Download Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) 2011 with App-V 4.6 SP1 and MED-V 2.0

The Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) is a suite of technologies available as a subscription for Software Assurance customers. MDOP helps to improve compatibility and management (App-V/MED-V), reduce support costs (DEM/DaRT), improve asset management (AIS) and improve policy control (AGPM).

MDOP contains six solutions listed below:
Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V)
Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) transforms applications into centrally managed services that are never installed and don’t conflict with other applications.

Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V)
When upgrading to a new version of Windows, enterprises must first inventory and test line of business applications on the new operating system and your organization may have some applications that are not yet officially supported by your vendor, or might not work at all despite all efforts.

This whole process - testing, fixing the application, upgrading to a new version that supports Windows 7, or finding an alternative application can be time-consuming. Meanwhile, users are unable to take advantage of the operating system’s new capabilities and enhancements, and IT departments have to delay upgrade plans. Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V) can help ease these challenges.

Microsoft Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM)
Microsoft Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM), a core component of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance, makes it easier for IT organizations to keep enterprise-wide desktop configurations up to date, enabling greater control, less downtime, and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO).

Microsoft Desktop Error Monitoring (DEM)
Microsoft System Center Desktop Error Monitoring, a core component of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance, captures all application and operating system failures in a central location in your enterprise, enabling IT teams to track, monitor, and proactively respond to user problems. By managing these failures through a scalable, low-cost deployment solution, IT teams can make desktops more stable and reduce the cost of Windows desktop ownership.

Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (DaRT)
Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset, a core component of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance, helps IT teams make PCs safer to use, keeps employees productive, and enables desktops that are easier and less expensive to manage. Administrators can easily recover PCs that have become unusable, rapidly diagnose probable causes of issues, and quickly repair unbootable or locked-out systems, all faster than the average time it takes to reimage the machine. When necessary, you can also quickly restore critical lost files.

Microsoft Asset Inventory Service (AIS)
Microsoft Asset Inventory Service (AIS), a core component of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance, provides a comprehensive view of your enterprise's desktop software environment. AIS helps reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and improve license compliance through advanced software inventory scanning and by translating inventory data into actionable information.
