Microsoft HPC Pack 2012 Service Pack 1 Now Available for Download

Microsoft has released the HPC Pack 2012 Service Pack 1. This service pack updates the Microsoft HPC Pack 2012 products.

HPC Pack 2012 Service Pack 1 provides improved reliability, supportablity, as well as an enhanced feature set on Windows Azure integration, job scheduling, and cluster management. This document lists the new features and changes that are available in Microsoft HPC Pack 2012 Service Pack 1.

Download the HPC Pack 2012 Service Pack 1
To download the packages for the HPC Pack 2012 SP1 update, go to the Microsoft Download Center. Once you click on the “Download” button, you will be prompted to select the files you need.


You may choose one to download based on the following information
  • HPCPack2012SP1-Update-amd64.exe / HPCPack2012SP1-Update-i386.exe:Download the files to obtain the updater for use on your exisiting HPC Pack 2012 head nodes, compute nodes, broker nodes, and x64-based clients and workstation/cycle harvesting nodes. It also contains the Web Components (REST and Web Portal), Azure VM, and KSP ('soft card') installers necessary to use those features. Please install this updater on the computers that have already had HPC Pack 2012 components installed. 
  • HPCPack2012SP1-Full.zip:
    Download this .zip file to have a full installation package to setup an HPC Pack 2012 Service Pack 1 cluster. Please uninstall existing HPC Pack 2012 components to install this package.

System Requirements
  • Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2012

The following system requirements apply to both a full installation of HPC Pack 2012 Service Pack 1 and installing it as an update on an existing HPC Pack 2012 cluster.

HPC Pack 2012 supported Operating Systems
  • Head nodes: Windows Server 2012 Standard or Datacenter
  • Compute nodes: Windows Server 2012 Standard, Datacenter, or x64-based versions of Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, or HPC Edition
  • Broker nodes: Windows Server 2012 Standard or Datacenter
  • Workstation nodes: x86 or x64 versions of Windows 7 Professional or Enterprise, Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise
  • Unmanaged server nodes: Windows Server 2012 Standard, Datacenter, or Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, or HPC Edition
