Windows 8.1 Preview, and Windows Server 2012 Preview Compatibility Cookbook Available for Download

Microsoft has released cookbook that provides info about changes to and new features of the Windows 8, Windows 8.1 Preview, and Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview operating systems. It provides guidelines to verify the compatibility of your existing and planned apps with the new operating systems.

This Cookbook is divided into two major sections, Windows 8.1 Preview and Windows 8, and contains more than four dozen topics. The following topics are either new with this release of the Cookbook or have been updated:

• Operating system versioning .
• Windows components installed on demand.
• HTML font fallback behavior.
• Web application proxy.
• Tracking modified ranges of a file.
• Placeholder files.
• Microsoft Platform Ready Test Tool (previously Windows Server App Certification Kit (SCK)).
• Windows App Certification Kit.
