Dropbox 2.7.54 Beta Now Available for Download

Dropbox has released a version 2.7.54 of Dropbox, a beta (aka Testing build) build of its desktop client for Windows, Mac and Linux. This new build fixes access denied error when installing on Windows.

Overview
Dropbox works just like any other folder on your computer, but with a few differences. Any files or folders inside Dropbox will get synchronized to Dropbox's servers and any other computer linked to your account. The green checkmarks will appear on top of your files to let you know that they're synced and up to date. All data is transferred over SSL and encrypted with AES-256 before storage. Dropbox keeps track of every change made to any of its contents.

The 2.7 branch introduces a new installers for Windows and Mac OS X, and Native UI for shared folder invitation and management. It also includes hard-disk space monitor that notification when your hard-disk is full.

Dropbox 2.7 branch introduces a number of new features and improvements includes:
  • Prompt to selective sync in the setupwizard for large Dropboxes.
  • Auto sign-in installers for Windows and Mac OS X.
  • Notification when your hard disk is full.
  • New icons in the tray popup.

Note: If you have two-step verification enabled for your account the installer will not automatically sign you in. You also will not be signed in if you have a Dropbox for Business account that uses single sign-on (SSO).

Dropbox 2.7.50 includes:
  • Fixed issue where Dropbox wasn't in the AutoPlay settings on Windows 8.
  • Let users bypass Selective Sync even if they don't have enough disk space.
  • Fixed rare issue on Linux systems that have ASCII as their locale.
  • Windows: Make sure we remove all files on Uninstall.

System Requirements
The Dropbox application runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems. To run the Dropbox application on your computer requires:
  • At least 512MB of RAM
  • Free space on your computer equal to your Dropbox storage quota.
  • Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows 8 (32-bit and 64-bit).
  • Mac: OS X Tiger (10.4) or later.
  • Ubuntu 7.10 or later and Fedora Core 9 or later.
