June 2014 Surface Pro 2 Firmware Updates

Microsoft has released June 2014 firmware update for Surface Pro 2. This firmware updates enhance system stability with microSD products, improves compatibility with Power Cover. This update also provides support for PXE boot with the new Surface Ethernet Adapter.

Overview
This firmware and driver updates contains drivers for all of the components in the Surface Pro 2 device. These drivers and firmware are compatible with Windows 8.1 Pro and Windows 8.1 Enterprise.

Because updates are cumulative, when you install the latest update, you'll also get all the previous updates if your Surface Pro 2 doesn't have them already. Only updates that apply to Surface Pro 2 will be downloaded and installed.

How to update Surface Pro 2 firmware?
Updates are automatically installed on Surface Pro 2 through Windows Update. However, you can also manually install updates by following the steps below:
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and then tap or click Settings.
  2. (If you’re using a mouse, point to upper-right corner of screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)
  3. Tap or click Change PC settings.
  4. Under PC settings, tap or click Windows Update.
  5. Tap or click Check for updates now.
  6. When updates are available, you will see a message that tells you how many updates are available. You may need to restart Surface Pro 2 after the updates have been installed.

What's new in June 2014 Surface Pro 2 firmware update?
According to Microsoft's update history page, the June 2014 update includes these firmware and performance improvements:
  • Surface Pro UEFI (v2.4.950.0) and Surface Pro Embedded Controller Firmware (v24.1.50.0) updates enhance system stability with microSD products, improves compatibility with Power Cover, and increases the reliability of sleep state transitions. Surface Pro UEFI update also provides support for PXE boot with the new Surface Ethernet Adapter.
  • Surface Pro System Aggregator Firmware (v2.4.350.0) update improves sleep state transitions when a Surface Cover is attached.
  • Surface Accessory Device (v2.0.287.0) update improves sleep state transitions when a Surface Cover is attached.
  • Surface Power Cover Firmware Update (v2.0.288.0) improves reliability when the Power Cover is attached to Surface and folded behind Surface.
  • HD Graphics Family (v10.18.10.3496) update improves Miracast wireless display experience and enhances display stability.

Note: These drivers and firmware are not compatible with Windows 8.0 or Surface RT.
