VirtualBox 5.2.8 (Build 121009) is available for download

Oracle has released VirtualBox 5.2 Maintenance Release 8 (Version 5.2.8 Build 121009) for Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris. This release includes a number of improvements and bug fixes from Oracle VM VirtualBox 5.2. The following issues were fixed:
  • Storage: fixed handling VMDK images created by Amazon EC2 VM export
  • Audio: various fixes for DirectSound backend, Windows guests surround setups and HDA emulation
  • Network: fixed PXE boot regression in e1000
  • Linux guests: Introduced Linux 4.15 Kernel support, fixed issue 3D related, suppress setuid and setgid in shared folders.

Overview

Oracle VM VirtualBox (aka VirtualBox) is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use.   • Snapshot Pane updates allow easier management of snapshot attributes, like name and description.

Audio
  • Device enumeration support for audio backends (optional).
  • Support for host device callbacks (optional) and further enhancements.
  • HDA emulation now uses asynchronous data processing in separate threads.

Storage
  • Support for CUE/BIN images as CD/DVD media including multiple tracks.
  • Support for the controller memory buffer feature for NVMe.
